On March 31, 2025, Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN, amending Circular No. 08/2021/TT-BTTTT regarding the licensing exemption and technical rules for radio devices. The new circular officially takes effect on May 15, 2025, ushering in important changes for wireless communication and consumer electronics manufacturers.
6 GHz Band Authorized for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 (5925–6425 MHz)
Vietnam has now allocated the 6 GHz frequency band for license-exempt Wi-Fi, enabling the deployment of Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 technologies, aligning with global spectrum trends.
Emission power limits are as follows:
Indoor use: Maximum EIRP of 200 mW
Outdoor use: Maximum EIRP of 25 mW
Expanded Frequency Range for Wireless Charging Devices
The permissible operating frequency range for wireless power transfer (WPT) devices has been expanded to 315–400 kHz, bringing Vietnam’s regulations in line with international standards. This change is expected to benefit exporters and device compliance.
Amendments to Technical Appendices
The circular also updates Appendices 2, 10, and 16 of Circular 08/2021/TT-BTTTT. These revisions detail the latest technical and operational conditions for various types of license-exempt radio devices.
Industry Impact and Next Steps
Manufacturers and importers of wireless devices are advised to review the new regulations and ensure product conformity ahead of enforcement. Additional implementation guidance may follow from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
