South Africa ICASA amends regulations for lower 6GHz spectrum band (2023-July-18)



South Africa ICASA has integrated the key lower 6 GHz frequency band (from 5 925 to 6 425 MHz) for Radio Local Access Networks (RLAN / Wi-Fi) Applications, and the frequency band 122 – 246 GHz for Non-Specific Short-range Applications, via this modification to Annexure B of the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations.


This new amendment productively opens up lower 6GHz spectrum band for the provision of WIFI services.


The Authority has published a revision to annexure B of the radio frequency spectrum regulations of 2015, releasing the lower part of the 6GHz band Wi-Fi. These related frequencies range from 5.925 GHz to 6.425 GHz.
