【India TEC】Indian TEC Delays Phase III and IV Product Implementation

On April 1, 2024, the Indian Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) issued Amendment No. 5-2/2021-TC/TEC/192 pertaining to Phases III and IV of mandatory product compliance. The notable points include:


1. The mandatory compliance deadline for the 10 product categories listed under Phases III and IV will be postponed by 4 months, shifting from April 1, 2024, to August 1, 2024. The categories are as follows:


Phase III:

- Base Station for Cellular Network

- Smart Electricity Meter


Phase IV:

- SIM

- Mobile Radio Trunking System

- VHF UHF Radio System Equipment

- PTP PMP Microwave Fixed Radio System

- LAN Switch

- Router

- IP Security Equipment

- Satellite Communication Equipment


2. The mandatory compliance deadline for the remaining 34 product categories will continue to align with the stipulations outlined in Announcement No. 5-2/2021-TC/TEC/185 dated December 27, 2023, which is April 1, 2024.


3. An extension of the acceptance period for test reports issued by laboratories accredited by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for non-border countries by 4 months has been granted. This extension, applicable solely to technical parameters, extends the deadline from March 31, 2024, to July 31, 2024, for the following 4 products:


Phase III:

- Base Station for Cellular Network


Phase IV:

- SIM

- VHF UHF Radio System Equipment

- Satellite Communication Equipment
